Books

Use the Library's Search Tool, Primo to find books on political communication. Rhetoric and Public Speaking materials have P call numbers and are concentrated on Reynolds 5, whereas the books that focus on the political aspect will be in history (D, E and F) or Politics (J). For example:

  • P90 - P95 - Communication and Media issues
  • P302-302.87 - Discourse analysis
  • PE1400 - Rhetoric and Persuasion
  • E176 is history of the Presidency where some books on presidential communication are located
  • E800s are books on individual presidents and within each president are books, journals, diaries, etc. that look at communication issues
  • JK518 is presidential politics including communication, speeches, etc.

Books on the speeches of particular political figures may be with the Political Science or History Sources on that person. For example if you search on the guided keyword tab in the catalog for 'Roosevelt' and 'rhetoric' you get several titles in the E section.
