Things to think about when writing for STEM

Writing Style: Writing for a technical report or article differs from how you would write a literary piece. It’s important to connect the what, why, where, when, and how while you’re writing to present a flow as well as present your thoughts in an orderly fashion.
Balanced Argument: In STEM, you want to look at possible solutions from a variety of different perspectives e.g. how does it work, what are advantages and disadvantages, what is the environmental impact, what are the ethical and societal implications (for the material, for the process, for the manufacturing, etc.).
Brainstorming: When brainstorming possible solutions, utilize a methodology that will allow you to look at what has worked in the past, what is being researched now, and what could be possible for the future.  There are many different methods to help you consider a problem from all perspectives from the Socratic method to kind mapping.  https://www.lucidchart.com/blog/effective-brainstorming-techniques presents 12 methods.
