MSM Graduate Consulting Project (GCP)

A research guide for the MSM program "Graduate Consulting Project"" (GCP)

Getting Started with Research for the GCP

Welcome to this research guide tailored to support students working on the Graduate Consulting Project (GCP) in the Masters of Management (MSM) program at the Wake Forest School of Business.

In this guide you will find both general and specific sources, suggestions, and strategies that your team can utilize to ensure your project is informed by both current research and best practice.

On this page you will find a general breakdown of resources provided by the Z. Smith Reynolds (ZSR) Library that may prove useful or instructive across your time in the MSM program and in various phases of the GCP experience. One the left-hand side, we highlight a curated selection of sources and suggestions tailored to specific projects and clients you will work with during your GCP experience.

Research is an individual, no-size-fits-all journey. We encourage you to reach out to us to discuss your research needs and questions so that we can offer tailored advice and suggestions. Good luck!

*Tip - If you have trouble accessing any of our resources make sure you are accessing via ZSR (don't just Google "Statista" for example). If you continue to have issues try running the Wake Forest VPN (more information here) and/or clearing your history and cookies in your web browser of choice.

If you need to find information on a company or an industry...

Remember: it is always best to first review the Company's website and digital footprint!

If you are looking to find information on consumers, consumer behavior, or markets more generally...

Remember - The best market research is a combination of primary and secondary information

Primary information: research you compile yourself or hire someone to gather for you.

Secondary information: This type of research is already compiled and organized for you. Examples of secondary information include reports and studies by government agencies, trade associations or other businesses within your industry.(source)

The resources available to you at the library will primarily help you with secondary research.
