Databases

To find scholarly articles in journals and magazines go to Find a Database screen and use the "Subject Lists" for "Social Sciences." Click on the little book to the left and select Sociology from the list. Click on Sociological Abstracts. Sociological Abstracts provides citations and abstracts to articles published in some 2300 journals in sociology, social welfare, and social policy, as well as other related topics in the social and behavioral sciences. Also includes citations to some books and many dissertations.

  • Sociological Abstracts (CSA) Provides citations and abstracts to articles published in some 2300 journals in sociology, social welfare, and social policy, as well as other related topics in the social and behavioral sciences.
  • Ethnic NewsWatch An interdisciplinary, bilingual (English and Spanish) and comprehensive full text database of newspapers, magazines and journals from ethnic, minority and native presses. This current database begins its coverage in 1990.
  • LexisNexis Academic
    Good for locating current newspaper and journal articles. Includes business, legal, and medical journals and news. Covers federal laws, regulations, and all court decisions.
