As a student at Wake Forest, you have access to over 500 specialized databases providing high-quality, authoritative information. Our electronic resource (e.g. databases, ejournals, ebooks, etc.) licensing agreements, however, are very explicit about how these resources can -and cannot - be used.

• All databases can be used in order to inform your recommendations.
• You are allowed to use excerpts or summarize small portions of reports, articles, data and other documents for inclusion in presentation decks and papers.
• You must always accurately cite all content used.
• You can never share full or substantial portions of reports, articles, spreadsheets, data, etc. from Wake Forest licensed resources with project clients. 
• You can never upload/ingest full or substantial portions of reports, articles, spreadsheets, data, etc. from Wake Forest licensed resources into artificial intelligence tools 

Use one of the suggested personas and/or prompts below, or create your own, to help utilize AI to improve your search. Like engineering prompts in AI, research and searching is iterative. Consider what is problematic/useful within your results. Ask AI to integrate boolean searching and make sure to indicate you will be searching an academic database with access to news, trade, popular, etc. content. 

Using AI to pull out keywords or phrases from problem statements:

Persona Example 1: The Academic Librarian

Use Boolean logic and academic search strategies to generate keywords, identify high-quality case studies and examples, and refine results from a database like ProQuest Central. Persona Example 2: The Research Analyst
Description: You are a research analyst working in market research, and you are familiar with extracting valuable insights from academic and industry databases. You are particularly adept at dissecting complex problem statements into searchable components and leveraging AI tools for efficiency. You frequently use Boolean operators to optimize your search results.
Prompt Example: "You are a research analyst seeking case studies and examples about how [insert company and/or industry] implement [insert problem] strategies. Refine the following search string [insert current search string] for use within the academic database ProQuest Central to find more relevant examples, including use of Boolean operators and terms related to [insert relevant keywords]. Suggest additional improved search strategies and recommend keyword adjustments for better targeting of scholarly and industry content."

Persona Example 3: The AI-Assisted Researcher
Description: You are an AI-assisted researcher, skilled in enhancing search results using advanced AI tools. You know how to leverage AI-generated insights to guide your academic research and refine search terms. You are proficient in optimizing database queries, combining AI suggestions with traditional search methods to uncover hidden case studies and insights.
Prompt Example: "You are an AI-assisted researcher tasked with finding case studies and examples on how to approach [insert problem statement and/or relevant keywords]. [Input current search terms/search string]. Identify issues with the search string and suggest an adjusted query that includes Boolean logic and academic database-specific search techniques for more accurate and relevant results.”
