What is a zero-waste event?
At a zero-waste event nothing goes to the landfill. All materials used are either compostable, recyclable, or reusable. One of the goals of the WellSus Committee is to create a Zero-Waste ZSR, where all or most of our events are zero waste. This page provides guidance on how to do that, but if you have additional questions, please contact a member of the WellSus Committee!
What's compostable?
- What's Safe to Compost?Note that the guidelines for composting at WFU may be different than those you use for your home compost, since the compost collected here goes to a commercial facility (Gallins Foods).
Compostable Supplies
The WellSus Committee has purchased compostable tableware (plates, cups, cutlery, napkins) for use at ZSR events. If you would like to use compostable materials for an event that you or your committee are hosting, please contact a member of the WellSus committee. However, remember that reusable is always better! If there is a way that you can encourage people to BYO, please do so!
