Environmental Organizations

WFU's Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability is located in room 101 in Reynolda Hall. It is the clearinghouse for sustainability, recycling, waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainable procurement initiatives on campus. It also hosts events like "Think Green Thursdays" and manages the volunteers for the Campus Garden.

NWF Campus Ecology
National Wildlife Federation has a more than 20-year history of working with colleges and universities through its Campus Ecology program to improve their overall green educational programming and onsite sustainability. Founded in 1989, its student outreach programs, campus consulting, climate action competition, and educational events and resources reach about 1,000 campuses each year.

A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Maryland that provides carbon offsetting and greenhouse gas reduction options to individuals, businesses, and organizations.  

Local Harvest
An organic and local food website that maintains a definitive and reliable "living" public nationwide directory of small farms, farmers markets, and other local food sources. Provides a search engine for users to find products from family farms, local sources of sustainably grown food, and encourages them to establish direct contact with small farms in their local area. 

National Resources Defense Council
A New York City-based, non-profit international environmental advocacy group.  Founded in 1970, NRDC today has 1.4 million members and online activists nationwide and a staff of more than 400 lawyers, scientists and other policy experts.

Center for Climate and Energy Solutions
An independent, nonprofit organization working to advance strong policy and action to address the twin challenges of energy and climate change.

Environmental Protection Agency
U.S Government Department charged with protecting human health and the environment.
