The documents below reflect our first try at cataloging some of the LC examples (including trying out various ideas for the same data) before consulting LC's answers.  For the latter, see under the individual exercises.

We noted that, where LC offered commentary, their preferred answer reflected the "Core" level; we agreed, in many instances, that we would prefer to enter more data (as reflected in LC's "acceptable but not required" options).

We talked a bit about our vendors' RDA-prepapation plans. Voyager's next upgrade (8.2) will map the new 264 and 3xx fields; so will Summon. No news yet from VuFind and Serials Solutions.

It was agreed that a second workshop was desired. Will schedule via the Google doc (see Home page).

We finished the LC examples, and decided that we now needed:

(1) workshops focusing on specific formats:

• Carolyn will organize a 3rd workshop devoted to DVDs, to be scheduled around the end of May/beginning of June.
• Steve will look for serials examples to use for a 4th workshop.

(2) an outside resource person who can answer our questions (update: Winthrop held workshop with LC trainer July 2013, attended by Leslie, Steve, Alan, and Mark. See links under "Related Resources.")

• Alan proposed defraying the cost of an outside trainer by opening the workshop to other librarians in the area (Greensboro, High Point), and charging a fee.
• Steve and Carolyn plan to make inquiries at ALA this summer regarding a suitable trainer.
• Alan, Steve, and Carolyn know people at NYU, Chicago, and Harvard, respectively, who would be good trainers.
