ZSR Homepage Search and Primo
A good place to start for many topics.
MLA International Bibliography
Covers journal articles in the fields of literature and folklore comprehensively. Also includes references to individual book chapters, which is an important way of publishing in this field. You might want to limit your search to English.
International Medieval Bibliography (IMB)
Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance
Two databases that cover all aspects of the medieval period. Many of the citations you'll find will overlap with MLA, but there is unique content as well. Go to the Advanced Search screen to limit to English.
Artstor Find images of paintings, etc.
Art Full Text Critical articles about art.
ZSR Film Search Find DVDs and streaming videos in our collection.
Film and Television Literature Index Critical articles about film.
Databases like the International Medieval Bibliography (IMB) often have advanced search features that can make your search more precise and relevant. In the screen capture above, I searched for the word 'plague' which IMB turned into its official term Black Death. Then I added limits to English-language articles, Italy as the geographic location, and 14 (or 1300-1399) as the century. After adding all these limits, an initial search result of 885 is narrowed down to 52.
